Xu Lei gets his own label

Most people have at some point in their lives chosen a bottle of wine because, well, the label just looked good.

Top-flight Bordeaux wine producer Chteau Mouton Rothschild is banking on that idea in China, announcing Chinese artist Xu Lei, 47 has designed the label for its 2008 vintage bottle.

Other artists that have created labels for the company include Salvador Dali and Joan Miro.

The current label's design follows the artistic style that Xu Lei is known for, using traditional Chinese techniques mixed with Western surrealism. His paintings are popular internationally. He held a solo show in London in 1997, and in 2007 his ink painting of a horse sold for US$48,000 at an auction in New York.
